Law & Leadership Summer Program

Anchorage Youth Court is hosting its second summer law and leadership program for local teens entering 9th grade.  Participants are learning about civil rights, criminal justice issues, doing mock trials, mock negotiations, and creating policy advocacy plans.  Last year we had almost 40 guest speakers, and the feedback from the participants was that they wanted more guest speakers.

If you're reading this page, someone thinks you have something interesting and insightful to share with our participants.  We would love to have you speak.  Below is our schedule so you can see what time slots are open and what topics are on the agenda.
​We ask that each morning guest speaker (9-9:30 am) discuss the following:

1.  What you do as a lawyer or advocate
   
2.  Why you do what you do
   
3.  A specific policy issue important to you/your work (including background, current work, opposing views/barriers) OR your perspective on the morning lesson plan.

We ask that each afternoon guest speaker (1:30 - 2 pm) either follow the morning format or discuss their trial practice advice for that day's mock trial topic.  Please contact Rebecca with any questions at [email protected] or 907-274-5920.  Thank you!
