How do I get involved with AYC?

Anchorage Youth Court is a great place for youth interested in learning about the law and helping out their peers. Youth in grades 7 through 12 interested in joining AYC take the introductory new member class, where students learn the basics of AYC and the criminal justice system.  The class is held three times a year: fall, spring, and summer. After completing the class and passing the bar exam, members can volunteer their time in court, at community events, and fundraisers. Students also benefit from additional classes throughout the year for members to expand their skills and knowledge of the judicial system.

AYC Bar Association meetings are monthly throughout the school year.  Members who attend can socialize, stay up to date with all the AYC happenings, and learn about various-law related topics.

Trainings happen all year so AYC members can hone their skills as judges and attorneys in actual criminal cases with peers.
